Verses 19-22: Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God’s people and members of God’s household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.
Reflections: I think God is trying to show us the purpose he has for our lives. That each individual person plays a part in building a strong wall of defense for God. It doesn’t matter how long we have known Christ, just like it doesn’t matter what our former lives were like before we came to know God. We are building a worldwide church for God, and that church needs to be strong. I think God is trying to show me that He has a plan for each and every person and that he is using us to build a place where he can dwell. I also think God is trying to tell me that I am not better or more righteous than anyone else, and that Christ is here for everyone. No person has more right to be with Christ than anyone else.
Prayer: Lord, please help me to do build a strong Christian faith and fulfill my purpose in life. I know you have a plan for my life but sometimes it’s hard to know what that plan is. Please give me the strength and trust to simply know that you have everything ready and all I need to do is listen for your word. I have a hard time depending on you and trusting you to take care of me. I know you will always provide for my needs. Lord, help me to build a place where everyone can be safe and welcomed to worship you. And, most of all please help me from becoming righteous. I am no better than anyone else, and please help me to understand that.
