I love Jesus!

Verse 5-6: The earth, from which food comes, is transformed below as by fire; sapphires [a] come from its rocks, and its dust contains nuggets of gold

Reflection: Nothing struck me more than the imagery in this chapter.  It was so beautiful.  I love how reading the Bible is not just a list of rules and regulations.  It is an extremely interesting story written by the greatest author of all time; GOD! I love how Job describes the earth and where people have looked for wisdom.  This book is written so beautifully even though it us filled with pain and suffering.  To me, this shows that amidst all the pain that a person can go through, there is still a way for them to find something amazing and beautiful in it.  I am so grateful that God gave us an earth where such amazing things as sapphires and gold exist.  A couple of weeks ago I was watching an episode of Planet Earth.  It was about caves, and the camera crew had entered this cave in New Mexico.  From wall to wall it was lined with crystal.  It was so amazing it took my breath away.

Prayer: Thank you Lord for creating the earth in the way that you did.  You amaze me.

Verse 3-4: as long as I have life within me, the breath of God in my nostrils, my lips will not speak wickedness, and my tongue will utter no deceit.

Reflection: This verse has reminded me how important it is not to lie.  Again, Job has lost everything and and it is amazing that he isn’t cursing his name or losing his faith.  Even though most of the things that Job’s “friends” have said could be applied to him, he is still refusing to believe them.  He will not speak against God because it would be untrue.

Prayer: Lord help me to not lie and always speak what us true.

Verse 1-3: Then Job replied: “How you have helped the powerless! How you have saved the arm that is feeble!  What advice you have offered to one without wisdom!  And what great insight you have displayed!

Reflection: I am still laughing at Job’s sarcasm.  Job can see right through this man who is giving him “advice”.  That’s how I interpreted the verses.  I still feel really bad for Job.  His friends are being nothing  but trouble, but I admire his faith in God.  This whole book has taught me that my faith is still very small.  I mean, there are times when I question God because  of the simplest things, and Job, who has lost everything, still is rock solid in his belief.  WOW!

Prayer: Strengthen my faith so that I can be an example to others.

Verse 10: Lacking clothes, they go about naked; they carry the sheaves, but still go hungry

Reflection: I am so grateful for all that I have. A bed to sleep in, clothes to wear, and food to eat. I can’t imagine not having these things that we Americans look upon as “necessities”. I am so grateful.

Prayer: I ask that you continue to show me grace. Know that I am thankful for everything in my life!

Verse 1-2:Then Bildad the Shuhite replied: ”Dominion and awe belong to God; he establishes order in the heights of heaven.

Reflection: God controls everything and has made everything.  I am so grateful for this.

Prayer: Thank you Lord.
